How Far the Research for HIV Has Gone

HIV Vaccine HIV VaccineThe research to put a cease to the spread of HIV has not ceased yet. The reason can be attributed the complex nature of this virus that still puzzles the researches who are in the quest to know more about this particular problem. However, as of now, there is no vaccine that can prevent an individual from contracting HIV, the very virus that is followed by AIDS. Although, the research of these researchers have undertaken various approaches so that they could succeed in developing HIV vaccine, but the degrees of success has kept changing. The main reason why the experiments have met failure is just because of the daunting nature of this virus. It is difficult to comprehend the nature of HIV as it behaves differently.

One can combat the virus only if it has been identified in the early stages. The vaccines that are being used today copy the natural immunity which is gained after an infection. If gone through the history of the patients who succumbed to AIDS, one can get the fact that there is no particular means of developing vaccine for HIV as it is very difficult. The approach that is taken with other viruses does not work with HIV. The scientists are still on the research for those vaccines that are either preventive or therapeutic or serve both the purpose. With the help of a HIV preventive vaccine, one can be protected from acquiring HIV but with a therapeutic vaccine HIV could be controlled. The antiretroviral therapy also works but without daily pills taking.

There are different trials that help the body to create the antibodies that can actually help in combating HIV. It also helps in building a cellular immunity against it. But then to boast that these theories work would be a futile attempt because there are hardly any cases where the person has fully recovered from HIV. One could have been successful in suppressing it for a long time but there is no guarantee that HIV would not come back. Therefore, educational programs that could enlighten people about safety are imperative so that the spread of virus could be curbed and the number of affected people could be effectively reduced.
